The ReBuilding Center Campaign

Environmental, Community, and Economic Benefits:

Ensure self-sufficiency for annual operating costs.
Community gathering and education spaces teaching sustainable practices.
More than double our capacity to make used building materials available to the public.
Double our capacity to divert materials from the landfills from 4.5 million up to 9 million pounds per year!
Increase support for Our United Villages community enhancement work.
Increase by at least 50% the local community base we directly serve from 200 to 300 people per day.
Create 17 – 20 local, livable wage jobs over three years.
Enhance everyone’s ReBuilding Center experience.
Inspire and educate Oregonians about the community benefits of reuse.

Green Building and Reuse Features:

Façade made of recycled building materials to inspire practical green building and preserve natural resources.
Second commercial building code-approved cob construction in Oregon.
Daylighting:
o Panels of windows made entirely of recycled windows and doors form a clerestory perimeter around both new warehouses.
o Skylights added to original building and incorporated into new building.
28 new off-street parking spaces to reduce the impact on the neighborhood.
100% on-site stormwater management including:
Bioswale planter boxes containing native vegetation.
Pervious concrete parking lot.
Designed with respect for neighbors: Michigan warehouse roof cants down to two stories on residential street; generous setbacks from neighbors yards; additional setback saving two mature trees.
Permitted as a pole barn structure so that neither heating nor cooling were necessary.
