Violeta Rubiani

Board Member

Violeta was born and raised in Asunción, Paraguay. At 19, she moved to the U.S. to attend college, where a class on Social Inequality changed her life.

An Oregonian since 2000, and a Portlander since 2007, she has worked in the public and nonprofit sectors, dedicating the last 12 years to improving access to services and programs for the most vulnerable Oregonians. She is currently a Program Associate in the Building Community Portfolio at Meyer Memorial Trust.

She has volunteered for a number of progressive organizations and causes since moving to Oregon, including Marion-Polk Legal Aid Services, the Forest Park Conservancy, World Pulse Magazine and IRCO. These days, she serves on the board of the Northwest Employment Education and Defense Fund and is an active volunteer for Write Around Portland and Unite Oregon.

Violeta has a BA in Sociology from the University of Oregon and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Portland State University. In her spare time, she quilts (very badly), haunts her neighborhood eateries, and spends inordinate amounts of time posting photos of her cat on Instagram.
