Community Outreach Manager
Edward currently manages the ReBuilding Center’s Community Outreach Program in NE Portland where he is providing technical assistance and capacity building tools to community members launching micro-businesses and small farms, coordinating local food systems research with Ecotrust, and leading a green workforce employment initiative in partnership with Metro, City of Portland, and EPA.
Hill's diverse background brings community development, design arts, STEAM-linked education, urban planning and cooperative economic together to a nexus of opportunities for partners and collaborators working cooperatively. With a strong professional background in the Northwest, his work includes; Seattle Housing Authority’s Yesler Terrace Redevelopment, City of Seattle’s Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Program with SvR Engineering, and food systems work with Tilth Alliance, Ecotrust, and City of Gresham, which provides him the ability to identify and address challenges at critical intersections of policy, practice, and people.
Hill completed his master’s coursework in Urban Planning & Design with a focus on Land Use and Green Infrastructure at the University of Washington in 2013, and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Development from The Evergreen State College in 2005. He also completed coursework in Mass Communications/Ethnic Studies from Cal State East Bay in 1994.
