Rob Nathan


M.A, Senior Solid Waste Planner, Metro

Rob is a Solid Waste Planner, coordinating community and local government partnerships that support regional cleanup efforts for Metro’s Regional Illegal Dumping (RID) program. He also manages Metro’s Community Enhancement Grant program improving economic opportunities, neighborhood livability, and public safety for areas near the region’s garbage facilities. Rob has a deep passion for exploring untapped opportunities related to the intersection of waste and poverty reduction. 

Since moving to Portland in 2007, Rob has been managing programs that advance racial equity, environmental sustainability, and leadership development for organizations like Community Environmental Services, Northwest Earth Institute, and Coalition of Communities of Color. Rob has also been a longtime volunteer for Oregon Environmental Council and Center for Diversity and the Environment.

Rob has a B.A. in Political Economy from Prescott College, and a M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy from Portland State University. In his spare time, he enjoys lawn games, euchre, all things Star Trek, barbeques, and road trips.
