Brighten up your life with a new light fixture! Wall and ceiling lights can be simple or ornate, but behind the scenes there are (usually) some standardized parts and typical wiring configurations. 
This is a skills-based class where you will learn how to use tools and replace lamps with a mix of hands-on tasks and demonstrations, but you will not build a project to take home.
Topics covered:
- Common light fixtures and mounting hardware 
- Types of boxes & enclosures 
- Typical cabling & switching configurations 
- How to identify hot, neutral and switched conductors 
- Testing & troubleshooting 
Skill level: This is an intermediate class. We STRONGLY recommend that you take Intro to Electrical: Safety and Simple Repairs before registering for this class. Students in this class are expected to be familiar with the following concepts and skills:
- Hot, Neutral & Ground - what they do and how to identify them 
- Basic circuit theory 
- Household wiring types 
- Using a non-contact voltage tester 
- Using wire strippers; Making good connections and splices 
For ages 18+ as well as 16 and 17 year-olds with parent or guardian permission.
Class schedule: Class will run for 3 hours with no break planned
