need materials Donated for your project?

The Rebuilding Center welcomes requests for donations of used building and remodeling materials from local organizations/projects that meet the following criteria:

(1) grassroots organizations (nonprofits & schools) based locally in the Portland Metro region and
(2) projects that are inclusive and directly benefit the Portland Metro community.

Please read the information below and fill out the donation request form at the end of the page.
You can expect to hear back from us within two weeks.

(PLEASE NOTE: We are only able to respond to donation requests from nonprofits and schools in the Portland Metro Region. Thank you for your understanding.)


Examples of Material Donations in Action:

Organization: Portland Art and Learning Studio
Materials: Plywood and 2-by Lumber

Project: PALS is a 10,000-square-foot art studio and gallery for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They used RBC-donated materials to finish a studio worktable. The artists learned to safely operate a chop saw and construct the worktable!

Organization: Community of Hope
Materials: Door Hardware, Mirrors

Project: Community of Hope serves homeless, single-parent families by providing shelter, classes, and community. They used the donated reclaimed materials to add affordable touches to their space to make the shelter feel more like “home” to the families they serve.

Organization: Cascadia Clusters
Materials: Door Hardware, Mirrors

Project: Cascadia Clusters employs and trains houseless Portlanders to build affordable, sustainable, and high-quality workforce and transitional housing. They have used a variety of reclaimed materials from our material donation program to build sleeping pods, shower stalls, tool sheds, and more.


DONATION PICK-UP faqs

+ What kind of materials are donated?

Please view this PDF to see reclaimed materials that we commonly have in stock. All material approvals are subject to inventory availability. We generally limit our lumber donations to a maximum ReBuilding Center value of $100. If your desired materials are not in stock, consider using available alternative materials or backup sources.

+ Where and When can I pick up materials?

  • We request that you pick up materials on weekdays, which tend to be less busy. Our store hours are Tuesday - Sunday 11am-6pm.
  • Please pick up your donation within 10 days of approval.
  • Please plan on gathering your full donation in one visit to our store at 3625 N Mississippi Avenue.

+ Can I request a donation more than once?

Please limit your requests to two per calendar year, so that we can provide donations to as many projects and organizations as possible. Thank you.

+ What happens afterwards?

We ask that you help us share stories of the material difference these donations make! Please email photos and information about your project to info@rebuildingcenter.org, or drop them off at the ReBuildilng Center.
