Learn lathe basics and make tops!
This is a great class for beginners who want to learn lathe basics. Use roughing gouges, spindle gouges, and carbide tools to shape the wood. Learn to sand and add a wax or oil finish. Once you have the techniques down in this intro class, you'll have the skills to make spinning tops, table legs, magic wands, and more!
In this session, we'll use our new skills to make spinning tops. Get creative with different shapes! Add color! Feeling ambitious? Try adding a captive ring, or using a chatter tool for texture.
Get immediate satisfaction when the wood comes off the lathe and you have a spinning top! Be creative, make the shape as simple or detailed as you would like.
This is a project-based class and you’ll take your spinning top home with you. You will need to provide the fun!
