Teaching Assistant Volunteer
Teaching Assistants support ReBuilding Center instructors and students during hands-on classes in carpentry, electrical, home repair, and creative reuse.
Teaching Assistants are asked to commit to a minimum of 1 TA shift per month. This helps us maintain a consistent pool of trained TAs and ensures our instructors and students can count on support during classes.
TAs work alongside the instructor to help keep classes running smoothly. You might help students find the right tools and materials, answer questions, demonstrate basic techniques, or help keep an eye on shop safety and setup.
It’s a great opportunity to build your own skills, get more comfortable with tools, and gain experience in a hands-on learning environment.
TA Training
Before becoming a Teaching Assistant, you’ll participate in a hands-on TA training that introduces you to our tools, shop safety, TA responsibilities, and what to expect during classes.
After training, you’ll be able to sign up for TA opportunities that match your interests and availability.
If you don’t have any previous experience with tools we encourage you to take a class before signing up for an orientation.
